The Willie Nelson dress depicts Willie standing in the Gulf of Mexico holding his braids. I was inspired when Willie Nelson cut his braids off to inspire human hair collection to help with the oil spill. To me, cutting his iconic hair symbolizes how easy change can occur. The back of the dress depicts a wind turbine. The Cock-a-tail dress I made mainly from t-shirts that I cut, knit, and sewed.

This is the fluxcoat I made for Bert in 2007. This dress is a portrait of Bert Crenca, AS220's founder. AS220 is an art space that hosts music and art shows. It is a non-juried space that is open for anyone to show their work. The dress is a tribute to Bert and his positive influence in Providence.

2007: Snow Vacation 4707

This fabric painting is a fuzzy vision of future after massive climate change. The family is enjoying artificial styrofoam snow in an enclosed dome. The dome is considered to be the controlled cooler climate while the outdoors is extremely hot. Outside the enclosed tunnels and dome, other animal life exists in trash structures. This is how I see the piece, but it is certainly to be taken however the viewer wants to take it. The details in this piece are endless and not to be overlooked.

The Awesome Brothers are a Providence band who commissioned me to make portrait shirts for them to perform in. They used to wear these large furry body suits, so in the shirt I made them wearing the fur.

2007: Progressive Runway Project 3

This is a group shot of the third trash fashion show. Many people participated in this event. I created the runway, which consists of four bicycle carts that detach from the bicycles and connect together to create the runway. The carts are made from recycled steel, bike parts, and palettes.

Joanette is my middle-aged Rhode Island alter-ego. She has run a kissing booth since the 70's, always for a good cause.
I made the outfit and the booth and charge a dollar per kiss. The first image is from 2008, and the second is from 2006.

2006: Draw on Me

This performance piece happened at the closing show at the Safari Lounge in Providence. The evening began by shaving my head bald in the ladies bathroom. Then I stripped down to some cut-off leggings, undies, and pasties, tucked some markers into them and charged people $1 to draw on me.

This framed tile is of the Steelyard in Providence. It is about 30 inches wide, but I don't have the exact measurements.

2005: Brittle Redevelopment

This abstract sculpture is made from hundreds of found ceramic architectural artifacts. There is no glue, it is entirely balanced. The piece took an entire evening to balance, and it feel apart numerous times in the creation. But after it was finished it stood tall for an entire month until the show came down. The drawing accompanying the sculpture dissects the piece, explaining the location of where each part was found.

2005: Resurrection and The Shit that Holds it Together

These sculptures are made from found ceramic figurines, toilet shards, and found ceramic water pipes. These sculptures are entirely balanced using small ceramic fragments as wedges. Because of the temporary nature of these pieces, I created paintings that document their existence. After the installation at RISD, I re-installed Resurrection in one of my favorite spots along the Providence shoreline.

2004:Ceramic Dress and The Progressive Runway Project

I cast trash and made this ceramic dress. I liked that while I walked I left behind ceramic trash remnants. Kerry Adams and I collaboratively organized this trash-fashion event. The clothing was made by various people, all out of trash or recycled materials. The fashion show marched though the Providence Place Mall cheerfully distracting mall patrons. My ceramic dress was made from cast trash. Over 50 models, designers, and photographers collaborated to make this trash fashion event a success.

2004: Furnace Monsters and graffiti tile

This tile is one of a series of tiles I created that playfully document lost spaces around Providence. These furnace monsters were located in East Providence at Ocean State Steel, which has since been torn down. The furnaces in the abandoned mill were about 25 feet tall and about 15 feet wide.
The building image has an anti-bush tile. I put up 25 tiles before the RNC in NYC in 2004. I know that this tile and one other are still up.

2004: Collection and Consumption

Kerry Adams and I were selected for 2004 Sitings Competition at the RISD museum. Our installation, titled "Collection and Consumption: A View of Our Culture through Vessels," consisted of a glass case that contained disposed vessels collected from the Providence shoreline. We installed our case in between the two contemporary ceramic cases on the RISD museum's Farago Bridge.

2003: Grandpa Head Pillows

Using alginate, I cast my grandfather's face. Then I created a rubber mold that I used to cast Nerf-like foam heads. In this installation shot, the heads are resting on colored sandbags.
